PCR is a cornerstone of modern molecular biology, with applications that range from cloning and sequencing to diagnostics and forensic analysis. Despite significant technical advances and growth in the number of applications, the majority of commercially available PCR reagents remain undifferentiated. These reagents contain “wild-type” enzymes, isolated from nature without modification, that were never intended as tools for molecular biology. Any performance differences among commercial PCR kits are often the result of differences in buffer formulation and/or enzyme concentration.

Our reagents are different. Kapa Biosystems employs directed evolution technologies to optimize DNA polymerase function for specific PCR applications. Our portfolio of high performance PCR products contain novel enzymes with improved tolerance to common PCR inhibitors, increased speed and specific activity, higher fidelity, and increased processivity. These enzyme characteristics enable higher quality results, improved workflows and entirely new PCR applications.
