Ion Torrent™ Platform
Ion Torrent sequencing platforms, including the Personal Genome Machine (PGM) and Proton, utilize the method of “sequencing by synthesis”, in which a hydrogen ion is released during nucleotide incorporation.
Detection of the hydrogen ion is accomplished by sensors located in the bottom of microwells etched into a semiconductor chip.
